I’m Gaurav Manek.

I work as a research scientist in the Liang Research Group for Liang Kaicheng, where I design and build AI systems and robotics for medical imaging.

I recently completed my PhD from Carnegie Mellon University, where I was advised by Zico Kolter from 2017–2023. While there, I started up Visigoth.ai, an AI-driven scheduling SaaS company.

Before that, I was a research engineer in what is now the Machine Intellection Lab lab with Vijay Chandrasekhar and Li Xiaoli. I graduated from Brown University with B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science in Spring 2016. While in Brown, I wrote my undergraduate honors thesis on incrementally parsing prepositional statements with Stefanie Tellex.

In my free time, I build things, write about building things, and occasionally bake, scuba dive, cycle, and more. I speak Hindi and (halting) American Sign Language. I have also learnt to crack a bullwhip.

You can connect with me on LinkedIn, see what I’ve been writing on GitHub, or send me an email. Feel free to check out my resume.
