Hi, I'm Gaurav Manek.
I’m a founder of Ocellivision, an A*STAR-affiliated startup that is revolutionizing intraoperative histopathology. This project came from my time as a research scientist in the Liang Research Group, where I designed and built AI systems and robotics for for Prof. Liang Kaicheng.
My PhD in Computer Science is from Carnegie Mellon University, where I was advised by Zico Kolter from 2017–2023. While there, I started up Visigoth.ai, an AI-driven scheduling SaaS company. I graduated from Brown University with B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science in Spring 2016; my honors thesis was written with Stefanie Tellex. Between the two, I was a research engineer in what is now the Machine Intellection Lab lab.
In my free time, I build things, write about building things, and occasionally bake, scuba dive, cycle, and more. I speak Hindi and (a little) American Sign Language. I have also learnt to crack a bullwhip.
You can connect with me on LinkedIn, see what I’ve been writing on GitHub, or send me an email. Feel free to check out my resume.
